Wolves Prepare €25m Bid for Genk Top Scorer Tolu Arokodare
WOLVERHAMPTON, England – Wolverhampton Wanderers are preparing a €25 million offer for Genk striker Tolu Arokodare, according to reports from Belgian outlet HLN, as the Premier League club seeks to replace outgoing forward Jørgen Strand Larsen.
The 24-year-old Nigerian international, who was the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League last season, has been excluded from Genk’s squad for their UEFA Europa Conference League match against Lech Poznan on Thursday to avoid potential injury complications amid the advanced negotiations.
Arokodare joined Genk for €5 million in 2022 and has attracted significant interest from several European clubs, including AC Milan and Napoli, following his impressive goal-scoring form. His potential arrival at Molineux would mark Wolves’ most significant attacking reinforcement of the summer transfer window.
The move is contingent on Newcastle United completing their expected acquisition of Strand Larsen, who has emerged as a primary target for the Magpies. Wolves manager Gary O’Neil has identified Arokodare as the ideal replacement, valuing his physical presence, finishing ability, and proven track record in European football.
Should the transfer be completed, Arokodare would become Wolves’ second major signing of the window following their acquisition of Brazilian winger Wesley Gassova from Corinthians. The deal represents a significant profit for Genk, who stand to make approximately €20 million on a player they signed just two years ago.
