Vasco U-14 Boys Get Surprise Gift from First Team

Just one week after a scary moment on the road, Vasco’s under-14 team had a big reason to smile. The young players received brand-new boots, donated by Vasco’s professional squad.

The surprise came after a difficult situation. On their way back to Rio de Janeiro, following their Copa Brasileirinho title win in Minas Gerais, the bus carrying the under-14 delegation caught fire near Conselheiro Lafaiete. Luckily, everyone managed to get out safely, but some of their sports gear was destroyed in the fire — including many players’ cleats.

Hearing about what happened, the first-team players stepped in to help. They decided to donate football boots so the boys could keep playing without worry. On Friday, the U-14 squad happily received their new gear at the club.

Before the incident, the young Vasco side had already been making headlines. They were crowned champions of the prestigious under-14 Copa Brasileirinho, going undefeated in the tournament. In the final, they beat América-MG on penalties — the only match they didn’t win in regular time.

Their run was nothing short of impressive: nine games in ten days, eight wins, one draw, 25 goals scored, and only two conceded. Vasco also swept all the individual awards. Guilherme Melo was named player of the tournament, Lucas Ovidio finished as top scorer with nine goals, Kauã Hermano was voted best goalkeeper, and coach Iggor Costa received the award for best coach.

From a frightening bus fire to lifting trophies and receiving support from their idols, it’s been an unforgettable week for Vasco’s under-14 team.
